Construction Materials Testing Technician (CMT) – Houston, TX | Earth Engineering

We are seeking dependable and motivated Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technicians to join our growing team in the Houston area. Of course, if you lack experience, we will train you. As a tech, you will perform field and laboratory testing, inspection, and observation of construction materials, including soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate, to ensure compliance with project specifications, ASTM/AASHTO standards, and applicable codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing and inspection of soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate
• Conduct sampling and testing in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, and project specifications
• Complete accurate field reports and testing documentation
• Communicate effectively with project managers, contractors, and clients
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment
• Follow all company and jobsite safety procedures
• Work outdoors in varying weather and construction site conditions

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in physically demanding outdoor environments
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb on active construction sites
• High school diploma or GED required
• Prior CMT experience preferred, but motivated entry-level candidates are highly encouraged to apply

• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I (plus)
• NICET Certification (plus)
• TXDOT certifications a plus
• Nuclear Density Gauge Certification a plus
• ICC certifications are a plus
